August 2017: Band:
6th August Phil Dean Band£4 on the door
Phil Dean, British guitarist, singer, & songwriter. His distinctive guitar style has evolved from the influences of many different genres of music. Whether it be Blues, Rock or Country. Influenced by Clapton, Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, Albert Lee, Robben Ford & Larry Carlton. Inspirational guitar playing with an exciting rhythm section that grooves like no other. The band, from Harrogate, has played across the UK & Europe & has also supported many artists including Michael Schenker, Wishbone Ash, & Wilko Johnson. The band features Nige Harrison on drums & Dan Mizen on bass guitar.
13th August Red Butler£5 on the door
Dynamic rock/blues band Red Butler is fast making a name for itself across Britain & Europe. Audiences instantly tap into the energy & passion generated by the young band from Sussex. Alex Butler channelled his burning desire for a full-time career in music by establishing the band in 2012. The band’s journey since then has seen them through a significant evolution, especially during the past 6 months. Dan Spellman joined Alex Butler (lead guitar) Charlie Simpson (drums) & Mike Topp (bass) during the latter part of 2016 & became lead vocalist following the departure of Jane in December. The tightness of the new line-up owes much to the fact that Alex, Charlie & Dan played together as ColdHeat for 4 years from the tender age of 14. Fans new & old have been thrilled by the heavier sound coupled with the ever present energy & excitement which are a Red Butler trademark.
20th August Lol Goodman Band£5 on the door
The Lol Goodman Band has existed in varied formats and with various musicians for nearly twenty years. For fifteen of those years James Horrocks has been an almost constant member either on second lead guitar or bass guitar. The addition five years ago of drummer, Jon Firth meant that Lol could continue to deliver the kind of sound and feel first formed in the towns and cities of the US and adopted by the great British bands of the late 60's and early 70's. The band regularly works the clubs, pubs and festivals, mainly in the North of England, performing their brand of gritty blues.
27th August Egypt£5 on the door
It's yet another welcome return for these huge favourites at Clowne. Egypt are a three piece Heavy Rock & Blues outfit that have been on the circuit since 1987. All three are former members of legendary progressive blues outfit The Groundhogs & featured on several albums. They have also been touring throughout the UK & Europe over many years.
