Clowne Rock & Blues - Gig Guide:

The Clowne Blues Club is now Clowne Rock & Blues to more reflect the blues based Classic Rock Bands on offer & also because we aren't a club as such, as you don't have to be a member.

Live music at the Clowne Community Centre between Chesterfield & Worksop N.E. Derbyshire every Sunday night from 9:00pm 'till 11:00pm. Doors open from 8:00pm. Just 2 miles from M1 Junction 30. Sensibly priced drinks, usually with a choice of at least 3 cask ales.

5th February Electric Experience£5 on the door
Electric Experience are one the finest power blues trios on the British blues scene today with their progressive rock driven blues with it's 60's influences. The band works extensively throughout the U.K. and Europe. Formed in 1995, the band has fast become established as one of the most dynamic and exciting three piece outfits around. Pete Orr writes all the original material and has enjoyed considerable success with a top ten hit in North America, as well as radio and TV exposure in the U.K. and Europe. Session work with Mike Stock and Jack Bruce add to Pete's extensive live performance experience. "A thundering raw talent" says Pat Marsh of BBC Radio, "Excellent lead guitarist", says Time Out.
12th February Swear Box£4 on the door
Swear Box have stood in at short notice for Maison Rouge who have had to cancel due to illness. Swear Box feature a floating line-up of excellent musicians who all play with other well known artists. Jamie says "The art of making live music, jamming & performing seems to be a lost one. Backing tracks, computers & miming seem to have taken over from the true art of being a musician. With Swear Box you get the real deal - live performance the way it was meant to be done, by seasoned, exemplary musicians having fun & taking pride in their craft." Expect a mix of popular classic rock, bluesy rock & rocky blues, songs by the likes of Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Santana, Cream, Golden Earring, ZZ Top, Queen, Foreigner, Deep Purple & many more.
19th February Ash Wilson Band£5 on the door
Regulars at Clowne Rock & Blues club from a few years ago will remember Ash & brother Phil(drums) from the very popular Lincolnshire band "The Melt". Touring & opening for such acts as Walter Trout, Mountain, Doctor Feelgood & The Animals, showed Ash, at the age of 17 was already a gifted guitarist, vocalist & songwriter. In 2014 he became a full time member of the Sean Webster Band. Being part of Sean’s band, Ash worked as a rhythm & lead player transforming Sean's live set. In 2016 Ash was asked to join Jesse Davey's Big Blues Band, co-writing & singing. 2017 sees the release of Ash's debut album "Broken Machine" featuring Phil Wilson on drums (Jesse Davey, Laurence Jones), Roger Inniss on Bass, (Chaka Khan, Laurence Jones) Bob Fridzema on Keys (KingKing, Dana Fuchs) & Jesse Davey (The Hoax). Now one of England's most distinctive vocalists, guitarists & songwriters in contemporary blues music, this is one gig not to miss!
26th February Lol Goodman Band£5 on the door
The Lol Goodman Band has existed in varied formats and with various musicians for nearly twenty years. For fifteen of those years James Horrocks has been an almost constant member either on second lead guitar or bass guitar. The addition five years ago of drummer, Jon Firth meant that Lol could continue to deliver the kind of sound and feel first formed in the towns and cities of the US and adopted by the great British bands of the late 60's and early 70's. The band regularly works the clubs, pubs and festivals, mainly in the North of England, performing their brand of gritty blues.
